Emergency action first; service only after the area is safe

Gas Line Repair in Bowmanville & Clarington

If you smell natural gas or propane, leave immediately and call 911 from a safe distance. After the area is made safe, Platinum Gas can review what was found, which appliance or line is affected and who identified the concern.

After the site is safe

When a non-emergency repair request is appropriate

Platinum Gas can review a known correction after an emergency condition has been controlled, or a planned concern that never involved an active leak. Fit still depends on the line, appliance, access and exact document or instruction involved, so describe the known facts rather than assuming every tag, buried line or inaccessible condition follows the same path.

  • A utility or other authorized party has made the situation safe and repair is the next step
  • An accessible line or connection has been identified for planned alteration or correction
  • An appliance change raises a line, shutoff, material, route or capacity question
  • A renovation requires an existing line to be assessed before reuse
  • An exact tag, report or written instruction can be reviewed case by case

Prepare a safe request

Share only the safe, known details

The request should help us understand the status without asking you to investigate. Do not operate valves, recreate a symptom, enter a restricted area or remove panels for the form.

Who identified the concern Name the utility, technician, contractor or other authorized party involved.
Whether the area has been made safe State what you were told and whether fuel or equipment remains out of service.
Fuel and affected appliance Share natural gas or propane, the appliance or branch involved and accessible model information.
Tag, report or utility instructions Mention the exact document and minimize personal information; we can explain a safe way to share what is needed.
Recent appliance, meter or renovation changes Note work or changes that may help establish the sequence without guessing at a cause.
Photos only when safe Use accessible overview photos only after the emergency boundary is clear.

The repair depends on what we find

The visible symptom may not show the full extent or location of the issue. We review the line route, material, connected appliance, shutoff, access and information from any utility or contractor response. The repair plan can then identify the affected section, access needs, repair method, testing and any appliance reconnection included. Finished-surface restoration remains separate unless the quote states otherwise.

Scope and access

Confirm the work boundary before repair begins

The quote should identify the known repair scope, access assumptions and responsibilities that remain with a utility, locator or another contractor. Nothing in this guide assigns work before the property and exact condition are reviewed.

Utility-side and customer-side work The responsible party is confirmed from the actual location and utility direction.
Locates and excavation Ontario One Call, any private locates, digging and trench preparation are assigned before work begins.
Wall or ceiling access Required openings and protection are identified before finished surfaces are disturbed.
Landscape and finish restoration Drywall, paint, masonry, hardscape and landscaping are included only when the written quote says so.
Appliance work versus piping work The quote separates appliance service or reconnection from the line repair itself.
Permit, inspection or utility coordination Responsibilities are confirmed where they apply to the exact correction.

Local service review

Describe the location and what happens next

Include the service address or municipality, known fuel, affected equipment, access and preferred timing. We review whether the request fits Platinum Gas and what information or visit is needed next; a form submission does not confirm an appointment.

The repair depends on what we find

After the area is safe, we review the affected line, appliance, access and known condition. We identify the repair, complete the agreed work and perform the required checks before the line or appliance returns to service.

  1. Confirm the situation is appropriate for service
  2. Identify the affected line and connected equipment
  3. Assess access and the actual condition
  4. Complete the agreed repair
  5. Perform the relevant final checks
